Comment on: Respiratory Muscle Training Reduces Respiratory Complications and Improves Swallowing Function After Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

      We read with great interest the article titled "Respiratory Muscle Training Reduces Respiratory Complications and Improves Swallowing Function After Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" published in the recent issue of the Arch Phys Med Rehabil.1 This paper summarized the available evidence to assess whether respiratory muscle training could reduce respiratory complications in patients after stroke. The authors concluded that respiratory muscle training was effective in reducing the risk of respiratory complications and improving swallowing function; however, no significant effect of the exercise on cough function was observed. We would like to revisit this article from a validation perspective to further refine this important study.
