Assistive Technology is any device, resource or service, which aids the client to
improve any skill, which is hindering his/her functional ability. Occupational therapists
are experts in using technology to increase, maintain or improve functional abilities
in individual with special needs. This helps in suggesting an adaptation, modification
or assistive technology device for a client as per the need. Over recent period researchers
and clinicians have started to use Virtual Reality (VR) as a new technology for implementing
innovative rehabilitation treatments in cognitive and motor domains. However, the
use of extended reality (XR) is not studied much.
