Cerebral Vasoreactivity is Impaired Three Month Following Sports Related Concussion in Collegiate Athletes

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is associated with neurodegeneration following repetitive injury and athletes are a particular high-risk group. The underpinning pathophysiological mechanism is unknown with a lack of objective biomarkers to identify high-risk individuals. Cerebral vasoreactivity (CVR) is an essential endothelial function for regulating cerebral blood flow (CBF). Therefore, the present study examined CVR on days 3, 21, and 90 following concussion and compared them with non-injured controls.
