      examined the cardiopulmonary effects of inspiratory and expiratory pressure threshold respiratory training (RT) in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). Given the limited understanding of this topic, we read with great interest. In our opinion, the findings and implications made by the authors are overstated and do not reflect the included data, such as “[t]hese findings indicate that RT has the ability to influence and improve both respiratory and cardiac autonomic function, which ameliorates the cardiovascular stress response in persons with chronic SCI.”
